Creativity in relation to Young Children:
Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. This includes the characterization of the world in new and different ways and to relate the hidden patterns and make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions. Creativity is a condition and state of the mind which involves two process which is mainly thinking and then tran
sforming that into actions or representations. In case of early childhood parents and the family members link creativity to art forms like drawing, painting or even hand crafts and so on. But creativity is much more than that, and is an important part of developing the child’s problem solving and innovative thinking for the upcoming years of adulthood.
It is also seen and analyzed by various child psychologists and researchers that creative arts help to develop the children’s cognitive behavior’s and abilities. In the early stages of childhood, participating and exploring in various creative activities and programs helps to improve the child’s imaginations and thought process and hence helps to stimulate and improve the mental capabilities of the individual as they grow up into adulthood. That is the reason why creativity in relation to young children is very important as its binds intelligence, thought process, decision making and being empowered to be independent forma very tender age to adulthood when they can perceive things and interact with the external world in a much better way. In relation to young children, the creative arts are the activities that engage a child’s imagination and can include activities such as art, dance, drama, puppetry, and music. These activities help to stimulate and help children cultivate their abilities across virtually every domain and improves in fostering the outcome of flexibility of the mind. So it is very important for the parents and the immediate family members to harness the importance of creativity in the minds of the children for a better future. There is nothing more fulfilling and satisfying for children to express themselves in an open and free environment, without the fear of getting judged. (Leggett,2017).
Importance of creativity for young children’s development:
The Importance of Creativity for Child’s Development begins at an age when he or she starts understanding things at an early age and begins with encouraging the children to try out new things and ideas, so as to expand their horizons from a very early stage of their cognitive development. Creativity promoting activities enhances the attention skills and cognitive learning. In that process the kid’s imagination is in full use and it pushes them to come up with new ideas and also makes them think out of the box as creativity involves exploration and problem solving. This becomes an important factor to foster their intellectual, physical and emotional growth. All such things which the kids go through to experience and explore about themselves influences their future development. For that matter, creative activities for children is endless. The more varied and multifaceted experiences kids have, the wider range of creative expression they gain in their early years of learning and grasping. They keep their minds and hearts open to build connections with world and society.
Creativity is important as it improves the physical development as various creative activities develops their mobility, finer motor skills and improves the control and coordination skills. Certain games like building blocks helps them to use their ideas and concepts better in the lines of construction and creation skills and in a way communicate to the external world unconsciously. Creativity also enhances the sense of pride and self-esteem. This also helps in emotional development as they express their thoughts through the arts and tools, which at times they may not be able to express verbally. Creative activities are also important as it improves the concentration and abilities to sort things which helps them when they grow up in problem solving and analytical activities. This also enhances their critical thinking as they grow up and take up tougher subjects at school.
