To learn how to apply SPCM to a process, continue the flow chart from Week 1 and identify variances within a process. You can find variances from the data identified in Week 1.

Complete the
Week 2 Statistical Process Control Methods Worksheet.

You will use this process in your Week 2 & Week 4 Signature Assignments as well. Create a flowchart of the as-is process using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Vizio, or Excel. As-Is Process Flow Chart Evaluation Walmart Shipment Process: Process evaluationSTART IN STOCK? NO YES PACK THE ORDER TO START SHIPMENT PUT THE “OUT OF STOCK” SIGN SEND TO CARRIER DELIVER ORDER END Evaluate the efficacy of your process using process improvement techniques. The issue with Walmart's new shipment procedure is the rapidity with which orders are shipped and processed by consumers. Customers expect their shipments to arrive on schedule, and in some cases, orders are either overdue or faulty when they do. Customers place the greatest priority on prompt arrival, shipments coming in reasonable condition, and sufficient inventory. Any of these consumer issues will be addressed by a newly designed mechanism that improves the way merchandise is purchased and delivered. There is now an oversupply of goods and little immediate market. Furthermore, there are far too many flaws that force instructions to be returned for correction. To correct the flaws, I propose including a final testing resource until the commodity is sent to the carrier. Add multiple distribution solutions to fix inefficiencies, shortages, and logistics. For e.g., same-day, next-day, three-day, and five-day delivery, with bonuses for on-time deliveries. Process Improvement Flow Chart Determine how the process can be improved based on the results of your evaluation. Define metrics and measure the current process.  The method can be enhanced by eliminating waste caused by faulty orders and shipping delays. By incorporating a new resource after the send to courier resource on the flow chart where goods will undergo a final review to ensure quality assurance, the number of faulty items going out to distribution will be significantly reduced. Offering delivery drivers rewards for on-time deliveries and supplying consumers with real-time monitoring information so they can watch the whereabouts of their orders and ETAs can help to increase delivery volume. Metrics used include the order defect rate after 90 days, the on-time shipping rate, and the valid monitoring rate. Any of these metrics is measured, including a less than 2% 90-day order defect rate, a 99 percent on-time shipping rate, and a 99 percent valid monitoring rate. My metrics indicate that the future process should be more successful. The defect rate should be reduced to 1% per million orders, and delivery delays should be kept to a minimum, resulting in more happy and loyal buyers.  Use process improvement techniques to improve the process. Create a flow chart of the improved process using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Vizio, or Excel. Use your professional judgment to ascertain how the future process will perform according to your metrics.  Process improvement flow chartSTART IN STOCK? NO YES PACK THE ORDER TO START SHIPMENT PUT THE “OUT OF STOCK” SIGN SEND TO CARRIER FINAL INSPECTION END DELIVER ORDER Summary Write a 525-word executive summary that includes the following:  · A brief description of the process based on the flowchart of processes current state  · The results of your process evaluation and how the weak points can be strengthened. Include a description of the process improvement technique(s) used.  · A brief description of process improvements based on the process of the future state  · How you anticipate the future process will perform based on metrics used to evaluate process current state · A description of your process improvement project to achieve the process future state   The current method is successful, but with the new economic forces brought on by the global pandemic, the current process must be changed to help manage demand variability (Aldaco et al., 2020). In the present phase, the customer orders the product of their choosing, and if the product is in stock, it is then shipped to be packed; if the product is out of stock, the customer is asked to choose a new order or order when the product is back in stock. Since the order has been packed, it is shipped to a destination by a courier. What this new procedure does not allow for are issues with shipping speed and errors that may arise along the way. The evaluation results revealed two significant flaws in the method that can reduce production power (Yan, Jia and Yao, 2018). These flaws were errors and a long delivery time. Using the sigma management method strategy, I was able to identify not just the challenges that the process was experiencing, but also areas for improvement, such as introducing an extra resource for quality assurance and incentivizing workers to work quicker. To meet customer expectations and contend with competitor Amazon, the process's potential target is to offer 99 percent of orders same day or next day. Process improvements to increase delivery speed include only manufacturing and purchasing goods that have imminent demand to minimize overstock and inventory, ensuring that all workers have a job to do and are optimizing hours on the clock, which would help maximize input (Sandborn and Lucyshyn, 2021). Finally, extra waste must be reduced in order to increase the number of exports each day. This, I believe, can be accomplished by recruiting more warehouse workers to maximize the ability of each resource. To help meet the changing demands of the consumers, the future process will work incredibly well and be much leaner than it is today. Based on the metrics used to measure the current state of the operation, there should be a lack of faults, mistakes, and problems with consumer orders. Inventory control is the first step. It would be ideal if inventory was managed in such a way that no orders were out of stock. It is, though, unfeasible. However, by engaging in inventory tracking tools, workers can save time and effort by keeping track of inventory levels (Metcalf, Askay and Rosenberg, 2019). My process optimization project revolves around automating as many facets of the process as possible in order to increase performance, reduce costs, and save time. Instead of hiring an individual to track and oversee orders, we will use apps to give customers receipts and tracking details as soon as their packages are processed, and when shipments are late, consumers get an email, text, or phone message with instructions about what to do next. The overall expected results of process change can be illustrated by increased customer service, duplication reduction, empowered workers, and decreased processing time (Lin, 2018). More priority will be put on tasks that take the longest to complete, and resources will be directed toward reducing the time required to complete those tasks. However, there are possible roadblocks that may limit process performance due to redundancies in the process, so further review could be required to determine which steps in the process need to be eliminated. Process Evaluation
Evaluate your process using 1of the following:
· Use the lean concept to find
ways to eliminate waste and improve the process -
· SPC or Six Sigma to reduce defects or variances in the process
If we consider the Lean Concept of operations, process should concentrate more on the preserving the values with less work. This concept provides perfect value to the customers by adding value creation and value addition process.
Below are the Lean Concepts on which company should work to eliminate waste:
1. Eliminate Waste: At the initial stage itself, take the orders only when the stocks are available. This process saves time and process.
2. Build in Quality: Check the excessive waste and excessive logging process and curb those. Employ quality check at each level instead of one person checking. When the quality process is streamlined workforce can be reduced.
3. Knowledge: Develop the knowledge base of the staff working in the warehouse, by constant training and feedback. Explain them the goals and process of the organization. Prepare Documentation, codes and tool requirements.
4. Defer Commitments: Excessive commitment at the lean stage should be avoided, like commitment to deliver the on the same day, even if the resources are not there, should be avoided.
5. Deliver Fast: Once committed to the customers, deliver as per the requirements with quality and on time. Block those logistics partners who do not respond as per your requirements.
6. Communication is the key to all good work. Communicate proactively if to the customers, partners and employees.
