Neurons, neurotransmitters, nervous system, and the endocrine
system all work together to shape behavior. Many times, famous people have
reported that they suffer from nervous system disorders and struggle daily with
issues just as others in our society. By going to this or another website (by
clicking here), please choose a famous individual and explain his/her condition
and how the brain has been effected causing this disorder. Please be sure to
share specific details to aid in your discussion of the parts of the brain
specifically affected by the disorder and resulting symptoms.

I am always fascinated by how people with notable social
platforms deal with the reality of everyday. They still meet the endless
demands of their jobs/schedules when dealing with disorders or that of a family
member. This brings me to Ashton Kutcher, whom although does not have a mental
disorder, he does however, have a twin brother who suffers from cerebral palsy.
“For those of you who don’t know what cerebral palsy is, it’s a disability
that mostly affects motor function,” said Michael Kutcher in a speaking
engagement at Ottumwa high-school. Cerebral palsy is a congenital disorder of
movement muscle tone or posture due to abnormal brain development. The symptoms
of cerebral palsy depends on the extent of the developed brain or lack there
of. If the cerebral cortex is underdeveloped, it affects the individual`s
mobility. The basal ganglia controls the individual`s ability to recall normal
body functions such as sitting, dancing, and produces involuntary muscle
movement. The cerebellum monitors and maintains coordination during movement.
If the individual attempts to move, a damaged or undeveloped cerebellum may
cause tremors. Although non-progressive, symptoms of the brain disorder may
have lasting effects on an individual. I always try to keep in mind celebrities
are humans and are as fragile and normal as we are. I do not over idolize nor
do I judge their actions. I have a profound respect for the daily trials they
choose to share with the public.
