Two major employment acts in United States are:
· Fair Labor Standards Act
· The Family Medical and Famil
y Leave Act
Duties of Employer
Under Fair Labor Standards Act
· FLSA is federal law that sets up minimum wage, record keeping of employees, setting child labor standards and determining overtime pay.
· It is complied by private employers, federal, local or state governments.
· Under FLSA, employer should pay to non-exempt worker of not less than $7.25 per hour as a minimum wages.
· Employer should pay at least 1 ½ times of regular pay as overtime if employee working hours increases over 40 hours in single workweek.
· FLSA provides broad child labor provision; it sets employment age at 14 years. Minor cannot work in situation where health is sacrificed, for example, mining, excavating, manufacturing exclusives etc.
· Employer must keep records for all time and payments regarding employees.
Under Family and medical Leave act
· The family and medical leave act is labor law which provides set of rules to employers to give employees with unpaid time off in condition of serious health issues and classified situations.
· To be covered under FMLA, business should have 50 or more employees in radius of 75 miles for their work site    
· Employer should give employee continuation of insurance coverage when employee is on leave
