Introduction
The objective of this report is to provide a Briefing Report of a hotel in CBD, Sydney to inform the new General Manager about the prospects and the possible scopes of development of the Hotel in the future.
Hotel Overview
The Sydney CBD Hotel is a 4-star hotel that is located in Liverpool Streets which is the central arena of Sydney's nightlife and amenities. It is located very near to the Town hall railway station. The hotel is located within the walking distance of the Event Cinema, World Square Shopping Centre, Darling Harbor, China Town, and the Pitt Street Mall. The Rocks are located from the hotel in less than 10 minutes. While it is connected to the Opera House, Harbor Bridge, and the Circular Quay by public transport almost 24 hours a day. The hotels have rooms that are well-appointed with air conditioning, wardrobe, ensuite, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, mini bar, wakeup call service, and room service.

The hotel industry in Sydney is flourishing and has effectively witnessed a profitable business in the past and has much better prospects in the future. With the rising in the income of the middle class, the tourism industry has become greatly profitable in the last decade. This particular hotel in Sydney has welcomed numerous customers from Asia. This is because the proximity to Asia and the region's growth in income and aviation capacity to and from Asia has improved the service and the cost barriers of the hotel. The large middle-class population of Asia has become one of the significant customer bases of the hotel in the last 5 years. Moreover, the outbound demand of the hotel leads to lower load factors in the short run and therefore it has led to lowering of the airfares and has assisted to improve inbound tourism competitiveness (Searle, 2018).
The depreciation of the Australian Dollar has been significant growth in the economic value of tourism by improving the affordability and increasing the inbound visitor's travel budgets when they exchange their home currency for Australian dollars. The hotel has also been successful in grabbing stockpiled loyalty points in the past which has increased its demand shortly.
Threats
The major threats that have been for the system in the hotel industry in Australia and which mainly affected the operation of the Sydney CBD Hotel is the economic rate that is persisting due to the outbreak of the pandemic. It has been forecasted that the revenue in the hotels is expected to decrease by 44.8 percent in the year after 2020-21. This was mainly because of the restriction of mobility which has greatly affected the tourism industry in recent years. Most of the countries around the world have restricted mobility travelers due to COVID-19. The revenue of the hotel has significantly declined by 25% in 2019-20. It is worth mentioning that the Federal government has imposed heavy restrictions on inbound tourism which has significantly limited the demand for hotels.

The government has been increasing support for the Australian tourism and hospitality sector by providing a flexible visa during the pandemic period.
