In the Week 1 tutorial class students will nominate into a group of 2 or 3 students to present a 30 minute group presentation in their tutorial class in Week 11 or 12 or 13. They will select 1 of the following 9 complementary or alternative therapies to present to their tutorial class.

1.    acupuncture (Week 11)
2.    iridology (Week 11)
3.    osteopathy (Week 11)
4.    homeopathy (Week 12)
5.    magnetic therapy (Week 12)
6.    reflexology (Week 12)
7.    chiropractic (Week 13)
8.    naturopathy (Week 13)
9.    reiki (Week 13)

During their tutorial group presentation the students need to describe the complementary or alternative therapy, what is claimed to be used for, what research evidence there is that is does or does not do what its proponents claim, what risks or contraindications there might be (if any) in using the therapy and any other relevant information the group wishes to present. Any presentation format can be used. Make it interesting and informative. You need to both involve the class and keep their interest.

At the beginning of your group presentation you will need to give to your tutor your Reference List for the topic. The marking guide is on the Moodle site. Use one marking guide with all the students’ full names on it.

The group will need to work consistently on preparing their presentation throughout Spring Session. Each member of the group is meant to be equally involved in the preparation and presentation of their topic. If there are any problems about this please contact your tutor sooner rather than later.
