Introduction – Nature of Problem
As the famous saying goes "Health is Wealth" relevance of this can be best understood today, when even the smallest imbalance in the body can create magnanimous losses both to our personal and financial health. A person is called healthy only when the complete health of the body is in balance, and if that is maintained then its glow radiates all across the body. By terms like balance of body, health and fitness one shouldn’t narrow down the definition a state where there is mere absence of dysfunctionalities rather it is expression of growth that thrives especially on organic elements rather than inorganic supplements. Mental illness and problems involve huge spectrum of mental disorders which are most commonly faced by many today. This includes affective disorders also know as depression, anxiety, use of substance like alcohol etc. Intensity and nature of these disorder may vary but the impact of health is severe and handicap the functions socially, cognitively as well as emotionally. People who suffer from depression are often treated differently and are isolated from other. They experience stigma because this disorder.
Trend – Health Concerns due to Depression
On an average more than 3% of Australian suffer from severe mental problems that impact their health and may promote many other diseases like hypertension and high blood pressure. If we deep dive into statistics more than 10% of people have moderate mental problems while others have experienced depression in last 12 months. The problem of depression in people and its prevalence in our cities is growing deeper. In last three decades, we have seen a tremendous penetration of mental health problems not just in Australia but all across the world and not just a problem in one country. Weight gain and obesity are just few symptoms of this mental disorder especially in young adults and people in the demographic of 30-35 years. If not worked on this excessive weight by exercise, gymming and controlling the diet then this weight may grow. Sheer propensity of depression in people has grown exceptionally due to excessive indulgence in silo living, less face-to-face interactions and lack of physical exercises thereby resulting in many health problems like Type 2 Diabetes and reduced levels of energy.
