As I mentioned in class and in the earlier announcement, you are not to develop strategies related to the dashcam scenario as that is not what the brief is about. The old brief from last Trimester was about dashcams and that brief has been superseded by the Trimester 3 brief (dated (18 October). Any submissions based on the dashcam scenario will not receive a mark.


The brief clearly outlines what the Disruption scenario is - it is everything discussed in the Disruption section.

Stakeholder meetings are a critical element in strategic management. This assessment task provides experience and immersive understanding of the complex interactions involved in the development of strategic choices, and the need to take an integrative approach to problem solving. The increasing pace of technological change and the increased impact of social media provides many challenges for businesses attempting to navigate towards growth and increased profitability. Rapid cycle times for new products can lead to decisions being made that are not always in the best interests of the long-term survival of the firm. Disruptions to the everyday course of business come from anywhere and need to be responded to often in short time frames. Introduction Assessment 2 Part B continues from the scenario in Part A. In Part B, a disruption is introduced which necessitates re-consideration of the white paper done in Part A of the Assessment. Here is a recap of the scenario. Scenario Recap Pro-Go Pty Ltd is a privately-owned manufacturer of small, high-quality action cameras based in Geelong, Victoria. Pro-Go has a track record of innovation, and technology that provides excellent quality results in a small package able to operate with small batteries for extended periods of time. The video files these cameras produce are known for having superior colour, and operate effectively in lower lighting conditions than competitor’s cameras. They are also marketed on the basis of their extreme ruggedness, and reliability. Much of the technology used in its devices has been patented by Pro-Go and is not currently available to other manufacturers. The Pro-Go management team recognised that the ability to capture videos is now a feature of most phones. It suggested to them that the future of the stand-alone camera may be limited. At the time, Pro-Go’s CEO requested the executive team meet independently to develop a strategy to guide the company over the next five years. Additional information: Earlier in the year, the COVID19 pandemic presented a substantial challenge to companies and communities around the world. In an environment being shaped by self-isolation lockdowns and social distancing, Pro-Go identified an opportunity to work with a technology partner/integrator to address a pressing community need. Pro-Go developed an integrated solution with the Government’s COVIDSafe app, which used Bluetooth enabled smart phones to identify when a user was near another COVIDSafe user and recorded close contact between these users. This enabled State and Territory health officials to contact any user if they have been in contact with someone who had tested positive for the virus). Pro-Go leveraged the COVIDSafe technology along with its own state-of-the-art cameras to develop custom-built Pro-Go camera units that could be fitted to dashboards of National Police Force vehicles to enable real-time tracking and mapping of hot spots throughout the community where COVID19 was present. The initiative was extremely successful. All National Police Force vehicles were fitted with the ‘dashcams’ and the units performed well. There were however some unexpected challenges that caused the Pro-Go management team to rethink its strategy. • The dashcams were so robust that they are unlikely to need replacing for many years. • Due to the hasty development of the units, patents were not secured for the technology. • Other manufacturers saturated the market with copy-cat products. • Unit sales declined significantly, and Pro-Go must find a new revenue stream. Disruption: Since the introduction of the Pro-Go dashcam, the general public has become vocal about privacy concerns and Pro-Go has recently been receiving bad press, with critics saying that Pro- Go is in the 'surveillance camera' business. The company wants to distance itself from the growing perception that Pro-Go is all about surveillance and it wants to position itself back towards the consumer goods market and rebuild trust with its customer base. One way to do this would be to take advantage of the current COVID19 situation and formulate strategies to serve the ‘work/study from home’ market. In doing so, the Stakeholder meeting/s may consider strategy options that exist in adjacent markets or with related but different products or technologies. This organization was founded in year 2004 when the era of new technological advancements started spurring up, the products from this company at that time captured the market needs and delivered accordingly considering the customer satisfaction as its core (Worre, 2020). But, as the new technological advancements and developments kept flooding the market over the period of time, the features of these cameras were now available in the smart phones. This lead to declined sales continuously of the action based cameras as the overall sales of standalone cameras reduced drastically in last financial year (Markand, 2020). For improvisation of this situation, the pro-Go stakeholders conducted meeting to strategically manage the business as well as to overcome this challenge of poor sales in market. It has been discussed by Derakhshan, Turner and Mancini (2019) that organizational stakeholders tend to give business with financial as well as practical support. They are much involved in the affairs of organization ranging from profits of company, loyal customers, and investors to employee work satisfaction as well. Further it was added by Hutahaean (2016) that the stakeholders are mostly responsible for company’s wellbeing along with ensuring that all hurdles must be overcome with the help of strategic management in company during the entrepreneurial work.
In this year earlier, substantial challenges were faced by the communities as well as companies around the globe because of COVID-19 pandemic.
