Sheet A)
1. Option C) +0.12, shows the weakest correlation as the correlation coefficient lies between -1 and 1 and correlation coefficient close to
zero shows spurious correlation. Among the options given, +0.12 is the lowest numeric value without considering the direction and thereby shows the weakest correlation.
2. Option B) its size/ magnitude (number), the strength of the association is depicted by the magnitude. The (+/-) signs are only for the direction, whether the two variables move in same direction or in opposite direction.
3. Option C) A miscalculation are occurred, the range of correlation coefficient is from -1 to 1. Here, the value is +2.35, which is not correct.
4. Option A) the correlation is a moderately negative relationship between variables X and Y, the r = -0.30, the negative sign shows the negative relationship and 0.30 to 0.60 shows moderate association in terms of magnitude.
5. Option C) high scores on X are correlated with low scores on Y, the negative r score shows that the 2 variables X and Y move in the opposite direction.
6. Option D) causation between X and Y variable is possible but not necessarily implied, the correlation coefficient of +0.85 shows a strong positive relationship between the two variables. But, correlation does not imply causation. Therefore, it is difficult to conclude which variable is caused by which variable.
Sheet B)
14. Option D, y intercept – which is the point where the regression line crosses the Y-axis...
