LEADERSHIP TRENDS
The two trends, which will be compared, are transformational
leadership and disruptive leadership under VUCA circumstance.
The transformational leadership focuses on giving direction, aligning work force and motivate them to find solutions of the problems they are facing rather controlling them and telling them what to do. This leadership does not recognize hierarchy and encourage people to take advantage of the opportunity they are coming across to portray their leadership skills (Chapter 3).
The disruptive leadership under volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) situations is a new emergence, which is equipped with agility and aggressiveness to support leaders to make business environment disruptive and competitive for others (Chapter-2). The pace with which the information is changing its role and look is demanding innovations. The uncertainty of the occurrence of events acts as catalyst for volatility.
Emergence of different variable and their varied roles under different situations has increased the complexity for the leaders. Ambiguity rises due to this and makes decisions taken by leaders vulnerable to unsatisfied results. The disruptive leadership takes into consideration the VUCA model and believes in setting structured and planned relationships in business environment (Chapter – 2).
