Describe the principles of a palliative approach for individuals dying in a variety of settings.

Distinguish between the practises of death and dying for Australians Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as compared to non-Indigenous Australians.
3.
Discuss the pathophysiology of the dying process and the relationship to the common cluster of symptoms experienced by all individuals dying resulting from common life limiting illnesses.
4.
Explain the principles for assessing common symptoms and the symptom management strategies that will optimise the individual’s physical, psychological, spiritual and social function.

Analyse the various care contexts, with an emphasis on residential aged care facilities and the role of the interdisciplinary team in caring for an individual with a life limiting illness and their family.
