MGMT1201: Business Communication Reflective Journal: Evaluating Your Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Competencies (6%) {Individual Assignment} Overview: A self-assessment requires you to be truthful to yourself and think beyond what I did, but what I didn’t do or what I would do differently next time to get better results. Employers aren’t expecting you to be perfect, but want you to be able to take ownership, self-realize, and work towards self-improvement. This realization (humility) is an important component in a successful career. It’s time to reflect on all your interpersonal and intrapersonal competencies you worked on during your teamwork. Instructions: Planning 1. Review chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the textbook. Reflect on your interpersonal and intrapersonal skills you have been working on this term. Writing 2. Open the Word document you saved for the discussion post -Self Assessments and Reflective Journal Writing. If you did not complete this assignment, please go to step 7 for further instructions as you will not be able to complete step 3 through 6 for this assignment. 3. Type the heading, “Discussion Board Post” above the paragraph from the previous assignment. 4. Type the heading “Evaluating My Skills” and start to write above the “Discussion Board Post” with the following information: a. First paragraph (overall business communication skills): Describe how your skills in business communication have changed since completing the first self-reflection. Describe your future career goals and why these skills will be important in this career. This could be in ethical communication, writing skills (planning, writing and reviewing), managing digital communication, presentation skills, or the 7 C’s of Effective Communication. b. Second paragraph (interpersonal skills): Describe how you incorporated interpersonal skills when working with your team. Describe the interpersonal skills that will be important for you in your future career, and how you will further develop these skills. Note that interpersonal skills include active listening, verbal communication, your non-verbal communication, reading non-verbal communication, asking good questions (as part of listening skills), incivility, gossip, emotional intelligence, self-awareness, extrovert/introvert personality, motivational values, or any others that you identified. c. Third paragraph (team skills): Describe how you incorporated team skills when working with your team. Describe the team skills that will be important for you in your future career, and how you will further develop these skills. Note that team skills include trust, conflict management, time management, consensus, persuasion, leadership, decision making, commitment, problem solving, collaboration skills, motivation, responsibility, difficult conversations, meeting management, or any others that you identified. d. Fourth paragraph (cultural intelligence skills): Describe how you incorporated intercultural intelligence skills when working with your team. Describe the cultural intelligence skills that will be important for you in your future career, and how you will further develop these skills. Note that cultural intelligence skills include cultural awareness, stereotypes, biases, generational differences, language differences, empathy, respect, awareness, cultural etiquette, or any others that you identified. e. Fifth paragraph (conclusion): Summarize your core points and point out any other communication skills or behaviours that helped you be an effective team member or communication skills you would like to work on in the future. 5. Your submission should be 350 to 550 words written in complete sentences and paragraphs, typed in 10 to 12-point font (Arial or Calibri), and single spaced. Follow the instructions in this document. Reviewing 7. Review your document using the 7 C’s of Effective Communication. 8. Overall business communication skills
    I have greatly improved my business communication skills because to this self-reflection. As my composing abilities have expanded, I've come to esteem ethical communication increasingly more since it assists me with arranging, producing, and modifying my work effectively. Furthermore, I have further developed my giving abilities and my commonality in web communication. I presently comprehend the 7 C's of Effective Communication and how to involve them in a business setting as a result of this preparation. My overall communication abilities are momentarily expressed here –
· My understanding of the importance of ethical communication has improved.
· I've enhanced my writing skills to make the planning, drafting, and reviewing of documents go more quickly.
· Thanks to this experience, I now know more about how to manage digital communication.
