The hard choice I made was to take a job at another location with the same organization. My considerations before making my decision were based on the amount of time it would take to get to the new facility versus the old. Another consideration was the chance to step outside of my comfort zone and place myself in a leadership position. My other considerations were the benefit of the extra income and the effect that cutting my drive home shorter would have on my family. In hindsight making hard choices, most people take the least risky option. I decided to do the opposite, seeing that I was still waiting for the new facility to open.

Yet, I have had the opportunity to learn the inside part of the organization, which deals with policies and procedures. I have also become a crisis intervention and sex trafficking trainer, which provides extra job security in being one of the few individuals certified to do the training—comparing two jobs determined each position's value (Chang, R. 2014). I value the hard choice because it has allowed me time to spend more time with my family while learning the in-depth policies and practices of every department within the organization. The hard choice was an opportunity to display who I am and to convey a message that I can make an impact in what I do. I also considered the reward system in ethical decision-making and action. As stated in ethical decision-making and action, organizational leaders are concerned about how goals are achieved (Johnson, 2007). And I strive to be a great leader invested in achieving goals while demonstrating an atmosphere of care and openness to ideas and creativity.

Thanks,

Renalta

Hard choices and hard decisions are hard because of the way alternatives relate and the values they hold. According to Ruth Chang in TED talk, a hard choice is hard because one alternative might be better in some ways but not in all ways and overall, there is not a obvious best option which is why it difficult. Not all hard choices are big. Some hard choices can be small like what you decide to have for breakfast or what clothes you wear for the day. Not all choices are big however they can be difficult because of all the considerations and alternatives there are (Sniezek, 2021). The way we respond to these hard choices make us all unique because of what reasons and values we place on the alternatives. According to Ruth Chang, understanding hard choices uncovers something about us that we may have not known.

One hard choice that comes to mind is my decision to stay at my current job working with the population of youth I work with. I was offered a job recently that included benefits and a far more substantial salary that what I currently make. It was a difficult decision because the job was not working in the field I am going to school for and have worked so hard in. It was something completely different than what I am doing. Although this job offered much more money which would make a life changing difference, my heart belongs to this field and this population of youth. My goal has always been to make a difference with these kids and eventually a position worth more income will come along so I turned down the other job. Although I might have made more money in the end, I would not be happy.

Choices are all that makes us who we are and shows the world what we can do and become. So, I agree that the speaker had to make a difficult decision of changing his job location. Shifting from one location to another is a huge compromise for some and a huge blessing for some but taking the decision becomes difficult in both cases. Some have to shift for job, some for education, some for marriage and other reasons. But I believe in the case of the speaker, he had to change the job location and he kept in mind a lot of things like time and his family, both. He wanted to balance his family and work too. He has been working with policies and procedures of the organization but now stepping out of his comfort zone could be challenging for him, but he is thinking of the longer run and according to that he might be taking the correct decision. I agree the things he has in mind but he also has to tally the pros and...
