    • Select only one: a national health issue or global health issue.

    • If you choose a global issue, it should be narrowed to a country or region in the world. For example, Africa is a continent. There are 5 sub-regions in Africa, and 54 countries





  1. Define and fully describe the health issue, using the following as APA headings:

Despite increased awareness of the problem, the obesity pandemic persists in the United States and obesity rates are rising globally. According to the most recent figures, around 34% of people in the United States are fat, with 15–20% of children and adolescents being obese (Kitahara, Pfeiffer, Sosa, & Shiels, 2020). Obesity is the focus of significant public health efforts, although there is no clear evidence of efficacy.
History
During the 1990s, the obesity pandemic swept across all the demographic groups, states and regions at an alarming rate. Obesity (defined as being more than 30% overweight) grew from 12% in 1991 to 17.9% in 1998. Younger adults (18 to 29 years old), persons with some college education and people of Hispanic ancestry had the biggest increases (Kitahara et al., 2020).
