Up to this point in the course you have been studying Nursing Theories and theory development.  Now to get a better understanding of the importance of nursing theory and its use in the practice setting, you will be looking specifically at the application of theory to nursing practice.

OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this class students will have had the opportunity to:
1.    Examine the relationship of theory and practice.
2.    Apply the concepts learned to personal or professional projects
Pre-lecture activities:
    Read Chapters 18 and 19 in McEwen & Wills Textbook
Imagine that you are the project manager responsible for leading change for an ongoing problem in your nursing area. Identify the problem, then propose a theory for use; identifying specific interventions that will help to lead you and your team to successful outcomes. Why did you select the proposed theory? Are the interventions and theory congruent? Was the use of the proposed theory appropriate for your selected problem and interventions?
Assignment:
1.    Read Chapters 18 and 19 in McEwen & Wills Textbook
2.    In the discussion forum, address the above scenario:
a.    Identify the problem then propose a theory for use.
