Validity

While reliability of a test is important for decision making purposes, validity is considered to be the most essential feature of a test because it is the best way to assess whether a testactually measures what it claims to measure. Thus, validity allows us to determine whether our results are in fact correct and true.
Using the construct of interest you selected for your Week 1 Assignment and final Test Development Proposal, conduct a search through the Ashford University Library to locate an article or study that discusses the validity (content, criterion, and or construct validity) of an instrument that has been used to measure that construct. For example, if depression is your construct, an article or study discussing the Beck Depression Inventory’s validity would be appropriate. Examine the instrument’s validity and determine if the instrument appears to measure the construct it is assessing. What are some of the strengths and limitations of using this instrument for this particular construct of interest? Examine some alternative ways to increase the validity of the instrument.

Indeed, a test can be regarded as consistent if its results are not only reliable but valid for all conditions. With a doubt, validity of test can be considered as very important feature in order to evaluate whether the result of a particular test is credible or perhaps can be contested as true. Essentially, as a concept, taking into consideration any instrument validity can help the researcher comprehend that instrument will accurately measure what it is supposed to measure. Many times, instrument measure can be reliable however, that measure will still not be valid. Especially in the case of instrument that measures some construct that might be consistent yet inconsistent under various conditions. On one hand, measure of instrument can be valid since it may give consistent results but results derived from those tests might not be reliable. I want to explain it by giving the analogy of a dart game as shown in the figure shown below. Majority of time it can be considered as an instrument that is valid as well as reliable. Perhaps, the shots which forms a cluster within a small...
