As you prepare to work in your chosen field, it is important that you know how to apply the concepts you have learnt at university to solve real-world problems. Through this reflective exercise, you will evaluate information, and apply the concepts you have learned over the course of the semester.







Instructions





As a future professional in the criminal justice system, an aim of this unit was to encourage you to consider the goals, challenges and the reality of the correlational system, with particular emphasis on Australia. In this final assignment, your task is to reflect on your learning over the course of the semester.




Consider:







  • Whether you have experienced a shift in your thinking about the role of prison, their design and the professional challenges



  • How you could apply your learning in this unit to the professional context (i.e., how what you have learnt in this unit may help you do a better job in the criminal justice system).






Marks are awarded for your writing, referencing, depth of thought, self-analysis and insight (rather than description) and integration of unit content/learning.

You will prepare a 800-1000 word reflective piece in which you will critically reflect on how your learning in CRI2103 has progressed your thinking about the criminal justice system.




Your focus should be on issues concerning prison population in Australia (including First Nations Peoples), the influence of politics over the design of penal policies, and the sustainability of the prison system in its current form.




You will also reflect on how the knowledge gained in this unit will inform your future professional practice.
