Before 1980 there were many incidents of domestic violence witnessed in America. Hellman and Gwinn (2017), have discussed that during 1973 the recognition of domestic violence had taken place, which means violence against spouse in the home. However, with the rise of movement during 1990s the domestic violence against men had also gained significant attention all around America. However, the focus on the intimate partner violence is on the violence against women in global public health and human rights concern. Shirwadkar (2018), has discussed that there are various types of domestic violence such as verbal, emotional, economic, physical and sexual abuse. All the above-mentioned violence had a common purpose of gaining and maintain control over the victim, mainly women. Around 3,000,000 incidents of domestic violence take place every year and it has been observed that a greater number of domestic violence takes place in the families of police officer than in general families.
