IMPORTANCE OF HEALTH PROMOTION STRATEGY:
Promotes awareness about importance of foot health to elderly people (Lopez-Lopez et al., 2018)
Counsels elderly and their families about causes of foot pain and prevention measures to improve foot health
PROBLEMS OF FOOT:
Bunions, hammertoes, arthritis, fungal infection, dry skin, and callouses (Foot Health and Homelessness, 2015).
CAUSES OF FOOT PAIN:
The type of wearing of shoes and the disease person suffered from impact the foot health and responsible for the type of pain it caused (Clendon & Munns, 2018).
Active elderly people suffer from the foot problems due to overuse of foot; whereas inactive elderly people suffering from chronic diseases also have foot pain but the type of pain experiences differ (DeFrain, Socha & Tomlinson, 2013).
ROLE OF ELDERLY IN HEALTH PROMOTION:
Self-awareness of the disease (Behm et al., 2014)
Taking care of health by adopting healthy habits
Motivates friends and family to attend seminars on the health promotion (Miikkola, Lantta, Suhonen & Stolt, 2019)
Promotion of foot health through word of mouth
Foot health is associated with many factors. Foot pain can be indicator of the other diseases. Taking care of foot health is important by wearing comfortable shoes and proper exercise (Roden, Jarvis, Campbell-Crofts & Whitehead, 2016)
