    · Asian Americans are a diverse heterogenous groups of people who are settled in America with their ancestry origin from various Asian countries such as India, China, Korea, Japan etc.
· The culture, language and traditions will vary based on their country of origin. Smith (2018) emphasized that each culture has unique representation such as Chinese culture represents the family piety, while Indian culture represents Spirituality and karma concepts (Smith, 2018).
· The current Asian American population accounts 20 million individuals (7.3 % of US population) and has contributed various aspects to the American society in various fields such as medicine, arts, politics, science and technology (Nguyen et.al., 2019).
· The current population in our community accounts approximately 1 % with origins from wide different Asian countries.
    
    Cultural beliefs related to communication (10) (eye contact, space & distance issues, time & punctuality, gender communications)
    Eye contact: In many Asian cultures, the eye contact significance varies widely. In various Asian countries direct eye contact can be considered as disrespectful, while speaking with the higher social status individuals (Smith, 2018). Ex: From the studies of Hofstede et.al., a prolonged eye contact in Japanese culture covey humility (Hofstede Insights, n.d.).
Space & distance issues: The Personal space preferences differ across Asian cultures. People from Southeast Asia may value closer proximities during the communications whereas, the people from East Asia will maintain physical distance to respect the personal boundaries (Smith, 2018).
For example, in Chinese culture, people might feel open to standing or sitting nearer to one another during discussions, while in Korean culture, certain distance represents respect and politeness. (Kim & Markus, 1999).
Time & punctuality: The time and punctuality differ from between Asian Americans as well as with the Americans where the time is more flexible. For instance, in nations like India and Indonesia, occasions and gatherings might begin later than planned, impacted by traffic congestions etc. (Hofstede Bits of knowledge, n.d.). In any case, in societies like Japan and South Korea, dependability is profoundly regarded, with people expected to show up on time, showing their respect towards other individuals time (Smith, 2018).
Gender plays a critical role in the communication styles and helps to understand the patterns showing their respect to the elders.
