Also, there are many legal and ethical guidelines, State, Federal and private governing bodies, codes of practice, fields of development and modes of funding. Therefore, it is important for nurses to both understand and stay current in their knowledge of these elements. This assessment allows you the opportunity to research and present a summary of the health care system in Australia, identifying the major contemporary issues that affect the funding and delivery of care and how historical development of the nursing profession has impacted on the current system. Summary This assessment contains two (2) parts. • Part 1: A digital presentation that must be completed in groups. • Part 2: A recording of the presentation using digital software that shows each member of the group presenting a piece of the presentation. PSA104 Practise safely within the Australian health care system PSA104_Assessment_2_Brief_Presentation_Module_5.2_Week_10 Task Instructions Part 1 Digital Presentation To complete this part of your assessment, you must work as a group to prepare a digital presentation. This presentation should include responses to each point listed below and be split into the prescribed sections. You may use software like PowerPoint, Prezi, Visme, Keynote, Slides or Slidebean to compile your assessment. But it must be submitted as a pdf. Your presentation should be no longer than 17 slides long. As this is a group assessment, only one presentation should be submitted per group. Section 1: Structure and Perspectives of the Australia Healthcare System 1. In 50 words, discuss how the nursing profession is perceived by the Australian public now compared to how it has been viewed in the past. 2. Create an image displaying the overall structure of the Healthcare System and list three (3) strengths and three (3) weaknesses of the health care system in your State. 3. Using 30 words for each, discuss how these factors impact health and illness. a. Socio-cultural factors b. Social influences 4. List three (3) existing health services that support current health issues facing people in Australia. 5. Identify two (2) ways health is promoted in your local community and discuss two (2) strengths and two (2) weaknesses of each. 6. Identify three (3) current nursing theorists and explain their nursing theories, using 30 words for each. 7. In 50 words, describe reflective nursing practice and provide one (1) example of how you could incorporate it into your professional life. Section 2: Governance of the Healthcare System 8. Identify three (3) policy frameworks for nursing practice in Australia. 9. In 50 words, describe the principles and philosophical framework of primary health care. 10. Using 20 words for each item below, describe how the healthcare system and healthcare policy is impacted by these areas: • Social perspectives • Political agendas • Economic status of people • Funding for services 11. In 50 words, explain how the Australian health care system was established and list the standards of care or Health service models for each State/Territory: 12.
