In the 1st assignment I have discussed my strengths and weaknesses in relation to a personal leadership skill, which was COMMUNICATION SKILL, and what I could do to enhance my personal leadership capacity in this area. Topic The purpose of assignment 2 is to enable students to link leadership theory to practice, enhancing their ability to work as a registered nurse. In 2500 words students are to discuss their personal leadership skills and what they could do to enhance their personal leadership capacity in the context as a nurse / nursing. Assignment 2 extends on assignment 1. Work from assignment 1 may be refined as necessary and included in assignment 2. The assignment requires students to continue to reflect on their personal leadership skills. Students will identify both their strengths and weaknesses and indicate what they could do to address areas of weakness. The assignment content has clear links to the contemporary leadership literature relevant to nursing. This is a reflective paper, so you should write in as 1st person. This assignment is a scholarly item of assessment, so it is necessary to support your reflections with reference to the literature on leadership. Reference to the literature will demonstrate understanding of leadership theories and practice on which you base your personal reflection. ASSIGNMENT STRUCTURE 1. Introduction (200 words) – Introduce/ outline/ situates the topic of the paper. State the facts. Clearly describes the way in which the assignment will proceed. There should state the proposed solution to the problems you have identified. It acts as a roadmap for the paper. In other words, it tells me the reader what to expect from the rest of the paper. 2. Discussion (2150 words): Use separate paragraph for each leadership skill. The below are the instructions to be followed for this discussion part. Topic: Students are to discuss their personal leadership skills and what they could do to enhance their personal leadership capacity. Assignment 2 extends on assignment 1. Structure and Writing Style: The assignment is structured in a logical sequence so that the content flows. Use heading/ subheadings as required. The assignment should be written with clear sentence structure, clarity of argument, and precision of expression and the spelling and grammar are correct. Content: The assignment should demonstrate a depth of personal reflection relevant to the topic. The assignment content has clear links to the contemporary leadership literature relevant to nursing. This is very important. Critical Analysis: The essay should demonstrate a high degree of critical thought and insight by providing a justification/rationale for the discussion, demonstrating linkages between topic, self and the literature, and critiquing the topic from differing perspectives, thereby providing a balanced discussion. 3. Conclusion (150 words) – In terms of the conclusion, this is where you wrap up the takeaway points from me the reader. The assignment ends with a cogent, defendable conclusion that summarises the discussion within the body of the paper. Present the significance of your analysis, why is it valuable and having engaged with the literature, what conclusions have you reached, what have you found to be best practice with regards to you as a nurse. Don't introduce any new literature in this conclusion section these are your conclusions, not the literature. 4. References: Should include a minimum of 25 credible peer-reviewed references presented in the Harvard style. These must be effectively applied to support your discussion. Provide in-text references for each idea, information you write. 1. Special instructions – Make sure you comply with each of those mentioned below. · This is an academic paper, so all writings should be based on evidence-based research. Use “in-text” reference wherever required. Please do not google websites and compile information from different websites. Make sure it is plagiarism-free.
