Introduction
A community profile is an exercise in social analysis, in which the specific characteristics of a geographically defined community of people are researched as well as analysed. There are certain communities in different ci
ties in Australia who are facing the socio-economics advantages as well as the disadvantages and due to this, their community profile changes according to community census research.
Gathering community information and awareness of community needs as well as their problems are major and necessary dimensions of community healthcare staffs specially nurses and should check that community health problems may be prioritised or given importance. This essay assignment paper would deal with the cardiovascular diseases, which is a most common aspect and has huge impact on the Australians. Coronary heart diseases are leading a cause of death in Australia, which is causing almost 12 % death rate.
These particular diseases affect disadvantaged socio-economic groups with the rates in the most deprived 10 percent of the population twice as high as in the least deprived. This disease usually affects the old aged group and therefore need proper measures and initiation from healthcare sectors in this regard. This paper would highlight the community profile on Kogarah, a city in Australia where many people suffered from cardiovascular diseases and lead to the cause of morbidity and mortality rates.
Public Health Problems and Causes Related to Cardiovascular Disease
Australian maximum population suffers from certain main health related issues, which include hypertension, obesity, depression, osteoarthritis, asthma, high cholesterol and many more. All the mentioned diseases can be a cause of cardiovascular disease. Australia has been spotted out one of the country whose major population suffers from this particular disease. There are certain causes of this disease and they are, firstly, high blood pressure, which most common in Australia.
As several Australians suffers from high rate of obesity therefore, they experience a high risk of increased level of blood pressure, which thereby lead to several heart diseases and ends with stroke. Eating too much or excessive amount of sodium, eating too little amount of potassium, leading an inactive lifestyle, excessive rate of alcohol consumption are several causes of high blood pressure, which is affecting this city Kogarah in Australia.
Secondly, smoking, or excessive usage of tobacco leads to the arrival of heart related issues. As mentioned by Borchers Arriagada et al. (2020), due to high blood pressure some Australians prefers to reduce their stress and anxieties by smoking and relieving themselves in this manner. However, they are actually doing harm to themselves and are increasing slowly and steadily their pains by burdening their heart.
As opined by Picone et al. (2020), thirdly, high cholesterol is yet another major factor, which can cause cardiovascular diseases. High rate of increased obesity and high blood pressure increases cholesterol level. High intake of alcohol and smoking can also be another cause of increasing cholesterol. Besides, diabetes is yet a serious issue, which is found mostly among the Australian people as per the latest census.
The major causes of diabetes can be overweight, obesity as well as leading inactive lifestyles (Nanayakkara et al., 2018). Excessive increased level diabetes give rise to cardiovascular disease. Furthermore, cardiovascular sometimes occurs due to family past history and ethnic background. Usually, the aged elderly patients suffer from this kind of heart diseases who cannot afford better treatment as of poor family attachment and isolation. Their health keeps on deteriorating day by day and they suffer from negligence and trauma.
As per the current census report and according the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2017-2018, the National Health Survey underlines the fact that an estimated 1.2 million of Australian adults aged 18 years or above suffers from one or more conditions, which are related to heart or vascular diseases. These include strokes, diabetes, overweight, obesity, high blood pressure, anxiety, stress, depressions and many more. Educational facilities are not that bad here in this city of Kogarah Australia; therefore, majority of the populations are getting proper education and are earning efficiently.
However, the problem is that as the total population of this city is just 91,951 as per the census report where 49% are male, 50% are female and other Aboriginal and Indigenous people are 0.4%, as an outcome of which competition in the market of employment is too tough to manage. As an outcome of these tough competitive market policies, several people are leading a life of hypertension, depression, stress as well as anxiety, which is paving the way towards occurrence of heart diseases (Strange et al., 2019).
As per the aetiological causes of cardiovascular diseases, it includes heart defects, diseases in heart muscles, heart infections, heart valve problems, problems in heartbeats and many more. Risk factors of this heart diseases includes the age factor where growing and developing age would weaken heart muscles, leading improper sexual life where men are generally at greater risk and this risk increases among women after menopause. As stated by Lee et al. (2019), family history, poor diet, physical inactivity, poor mental health all are involved in giving a result to heart diseases.
As per the epidemiology of these particular diseases, it affects the older aged group in Australia especially in this city Kogarah, as they remain neglected from their family and as a result when they seriously suffer from these chronic diseases there remains nobody to take them to...
