IMPORTANT! This assignment is a follow on from the last assignment I have completed and is about SUICIDE PREVENTION amoung the aboriginal community of the Kimberley region mitigating covid 19! This MUST be the focus! The need identified remains the same and the program will be developed to address the need (suicide prevention). But secondaryto this any program delivery for groups would need to include a risk assesment ( week 6). This requires you to provide information re " the rules of emgagment'. This should included information on Social distancing, wearing of masks if unwell, hand hygiene if relevant.ect. All of which mitigate spread of this disease. The Guidelines issued by the Health Dept require us all to particpate whether a sporting club, a hospital , a school ect.
My advice is that you have a look at the many projects that are out there and consider using them as a template. So it is not necessary to re invent the wheel so to speak. ( Bronaugh)This assignment needs APA 7th referencing. Both in text and end text references, it needs EVERY sentence referenced.(Follow the textbook chapter 11 health promotion from the little upload here). Please ask if you do not understand something and don't just write anything in, I am needing a HD on this assignment to pass the unit which is why I am coming to you guys! Please do this properly.

School of Nursing and Midwifery 2021 1 Edith Cowan University School of Nursing & Midwifery 2021 Program Requirements & Assignment Presentation Guide This guide has been broken into two parts: • Part 1: Program Requirements from A – Z (page 2) • Part 2: Assignment Presentation Guide (page 7) School of Nursing and Midwifery 2021 2 Part 1: Program Requirements from A-Z Table of Contents Academic Misconduct (including plagiarism) 2 Assessments 2 Assessment Writing Considerations 2 Attendance at Lectures and Tutorials and Online Engagement 3 Blackboard - Learning Management System (LMS) 3 Class Conduct 4 Class Preparation 4 Email Protocol 4 Extensions for Assignments 4 Failing a Unit 5 Learning support 5 Marking and grading of assignments 5 Referencing 5 Social Media Policy 6 Unit and Teaching Evaluation (UTEI) 6 Academic Misconduct (including plagiarism) Edith Cowan University regards academic misconduct of any form as unacceptable. Academic misconduct, which includes but is not limited to, plagiarism; unauthorised collaboration; cheating in examinations; theft of other student’s work; collusion; inadequate and incorrect referencing; will be dealt with in accordance with the Academic Misconduct Rules (Students). Assessments Both students and staff are required to abide by the Assessment policy. Please refer to the My Studies intranet site Study Advice > Assignments. The Assessment, Examination and Moderation Procedures (point 3.19, pp. 5) governs the process of ensuring equivalence in assessment among all unit offerings, irrespective of where they are offered. All information regarding submission and return of assessments will be available in the unit plan or the unit Blackboard site. The School of Nursing and Midwifery also has an assignment presentation guide and an assignment template which are available on the Community Blackboard site. Assessment Writing Considerations Academic writing is usually written in the third person, unless it is a reflective piece of assessment. Therefore, there is no use of first person ("I think") or second person ("you will see from the essay that..."). Third person style requires the writer to use relevant, accurate, and referenced paraphrases to support discussion, without reference to themselves or the reader. http://policysearch.ecu.edu.au/WebDrawer.PolicySearch/Record/174/file/document http://policysearch.ecu.edu.au/WebDrawer.PolicySearch/Record/734/file/document http://intranet.ecu.edu.au/student/my-studies/study-advice/assignments http://intranet.ecu.edu.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0011/784262/Assessment-Examination-and-Moderation-Procedures.pdf https://blackboard.ecu.edu.au/webapps/blackboard/content/listContentEditable.jsp?content_id=_4867200_1&course_id=_39271_1&mode=reset School of Nursing and Midwifery 2021 3 Word Count Assignment instructions often state a specified number of words (word count) that you are expected to complete in your work. This helps you to understand how much writing you are expected to submit. The word count includes all words used in the body of the text inclusive of in-text citations, tables and quotes. They do not include the reference list or contents page or appendices. You are allowed a leeway of 10% with no marks penalty. However, penalties will apply if you are more than 10% over the expected word count. If the body of assignment text is more than 10% above the word count, the marker will stop marking the work at that point, so you will not gain any marks for work written after 10% above the maximum word count. If the body of assignment text is more than 10% below the word count, it is unlikely you will have covered all aspects of the assignment and you will lose marks accordingly. Attendance at Lectures and Tutorials and Online Engagement Some Nursing units are offered as an option of “online” or “on campus” while other units are blended with both “online” and “on campus” components required. While attendance at tutorials and lectures/or completion of interactive learning activities (ILA’s) are not compulsory, it is in the students’ best interest to attend to enhance their learning and complete their studies. Students enrolling on campus are expected to attend at least 80% of tutorials. Attendance at practicum workshops is compulsory and requires an 80% attendance record. Students cannot change/alternate tutorials without prior approval by the unit coordinator due to Work Health and Safety (WH&S) regulations regarding maximum class numbers. Punctuality is important. If more than 10 minutes late to tutorial/seminar the student can be asked not to attend. Discussions and activities amongst peers and with lecturer/tutors will reinforce and clarify concepts from the readings. Tutorials also provide a forum for asking and answering questions. The more work and participation students bring into the tutorials, the more everyone will get out of the sessions. All online learning materials are presented to encourage student learning and build on their existing knowledge. Materials include prescribed readings, multimedia resources, recorded lectures, interactive learning activities, quizzes and discussions. Students who miss on campus tutorials or do not attend tutorials offered online are strongly recommended to go through the activities online. Here is a breakdown of the expected learning required for SNM undergraduate and postgraduate students. Undergraduate Postgraduate Type of learning Percentage of 150 hour unit (15 credit points) Percentage of 200 hour unit (20 credit points) Directed study 15% = 20 hours 20% = 40 hours Interaction with others 20% = 30 hours 10% = 20 hours Independent study 30% = 45 hours 30% = 60 hours Assessment preparation 35% = 50 hours 40% = 80 hours Blackboard - Learning Management System (LMS) The unit outline, unit plan, learning resources, announcements, discussions and information are available on the Blackboard site. Students are expected to visit Blackboard a minimum of twice a week for updates School of Nursing and Midwifery 2021 4 and information. Note that not all announcements will be emailed to students. Any changes in class times or rooms will be announced on Blackboard. Class Conduct All mobile phones must be switched off prior to commencement of class. If there are compelling reasons that a student requires their phone to remain on, arrangements must be discussed with the lecturer/tutor. Students will behave in a respectful manner in all communications with staff and fellow students at all times. Class Preparation Please complete all reading/viewing of material as advised prior to your class. If students prepare well they will get much more out of any session. Email Protocol The nursing program and ECU will only contact students via their student email address. Hence it is essential students check ECU emails regularly. All emails should be sent from a student email account, otherwise anti-spam filters may prevent it from being delivered to lecturers. When emailing a staff member please provide: • Full name • Student number • Unit Code • A subject that describes the nature of your query or request Please follow email etiquette when using ECU email. This can be found in the Email Policy. Change the default setting on email programs to include previous messages in replies, and make sure that previous messages are included in an ongoing exchange. The subject should indicate what the email is about. In normal circumstances lecturers will reply within two working days. Extensions for Assignments If an extension of time is required to complete an assignment student must: • Apply for an assignment extension using the online form. • Ensure you apply before the assignment due date; • Attach documentary evidence (e.g. medical certificate) to support your request. Normal occupational commitments and extracurricular activities are not accepted as grounds for granting extra time because students are expected to plan ahead. Extensions cannot be granted beyond the end of semester. Long extensions of time raise the problem of fairness if other students in the unit have had their assignments returned. If an assignment is submitted after the due date without an agreed extension, or beyond the date of an agreed extension, it will usually incur a penalty. In accordance with the University’s regulations, the penalty is 5% (of the maximum mark available) for each calendar day that the assignment is late. If an assignment is submitted more than seven calendar days late, a mark of zero will be given for the assignment. http://www.ecu.edu.au/GPPS/policies_db/tmp/ad082.pdf https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=PTLLm6N_50Wjb22c_bzCcm9IuQfei1pHsMvMtI3fem1UNVcwVFpXU1NSVkMzRjJUTERORkxUQVNHSS4u School of Nursing and Midwifery 2021 5 Failing a Unit If a student fails a non-designated unit (all theoretical units; practice units in the first year of undergraduate programs, or a practice unit in the first semester of postgraduate program) a further two opportunities may be allowed by the Progression Panel (formerly the Board of Examiners). However, failing a non- designated unit three times will result in exclusion from the unit and the course. A fourth attempt at a non- designated unit will only be offered in exceptional circumstances, if the student is undertaking the final 60 credits of a course and if agreed by the Progression Panel. If a student fails a designated unit, (practice units undertaken after the first year of undergraduate programs, or a practice unit taken after the first semester of postgraduate programs) unit and course exclusion results. In exceptional circumstances, a further opportunity may be allowed by the Progression Panel; a third attempt at a designated unit is not allowed in any circumstances. Clarification and further assistance can be obtained by contacting the Student Hub. Learning support If you feel you need extra help with academic reading, writing, referencing, numeracy, English language and study skills or have any further queries regarding assignment guidelines and assignment writing, you can attend one of the academic skills or English language workshops or assignment drop-in sessions. A schedule of topics and dates will be posted on the Learning Support tab on any of your unit Blackboard sites or the Academic Skills Centre site. Marking and grading of assignments All unit assessments have a marking rubric that identifies the aspects of your work that will be considered when your work is being graded. You are advised to check your work against this rubric to ensure that you have completed all required components. The grading system used at ECU consists of the following levels: 80 – 100% HD High Distinction 70 – 79% D Distinction 60 – 69% CR Credit 50 – 59% C Pass 0 – 49% N Fail For clinical practice

Introduction
The life threatened disease COVID-19 had stepped into the Earth and ruined the lives of human beings specially the children belonging to the minority groups who were affected not only physically but also mentally an
d psychologically. The symptoms for this virus are found to be mild in nature but it has a long-term effect on the human beings especially to those who have low immune body system. Suicide is the basic activity found among the Aboriginal minority group as of poverty, unemployment, which are occurring in the present days due to COVID-19. This research paper will highlight the support for suicide prevention and initiate program by mitigating the concept of Covid -19.
Major Issues for which Suicide Occurs in Kimberley:
After the effect of colonisation, the overall aspects of Indigenous Aboriginal people’s health as well as their wellbeing started affecting not only their physical health, but also their spiritual, mental as well as emotional fitness. From certain evidence, the minority population in Kimberley experiences the inappropriate significance of ill health as of substandard medical facilities, poor educational system and poverty.
These populations therefore, suffers a lot from obtaining any kind of employment, which thereby affect their incoming source. Most of the illness experienced by these Indigenous group of people include diabetes, obesities, mal nourishments, cardiovascular diseases, post-traumatic stress disorders, mental health issues, cultural effects such as the change in the spiritual beliefs, depreciations of traditional knowledge and languages. Social effects include violence, effect on gender role, domestic violence, child rearing and trafficking.
The Indigenous peoples are often regarded as underclass and deprived people as they lack employment, lower income level, blackish culture and poor cultural development. These peoples lack employments, as proper deserving facilities are not provided to upgrade themselves in order to cope up with the Australian culture. The woman here had to work hard to earn something to provide some food and other necessities to their children. Even the children here are also socially abused by the non-Indigenous groups, as an outcome of which, they suffer from psychological, emotional, sexual and spiritual abuses. Thereby, they experience to undergo certain criminal activities and in turn affect their morality rate, creates health problem, substance abuses and disintegration with their family as well as society and as a result they commit suicide.
As stated by Salinas-Perez et al. (2020), as an outcome of high intensity of depression, the children belonging to these minority groups easily get involved in substance abuses and get addicted to various drugs, alcohol. They experience different form of social abuses, sexual harassment, emotional and mental abuses and many more. Some researchers often termed these phase as “copying mechanism”. In term of gender and racial perspectives the woman as well as the girls in this regard suffers the most, as they had to face the domestic violence and gender inequality on a regular basis while attending the school.
Aboriginal group of women are subjected in several forms of discrimination with no rights to take their own life decisions. The mental health illness includes, substance abuse, which arises out of over consumptions of drugs and alcohols, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, paranoia, personality disorder, attention disability and psychological and nervous disorders.
Due to all these mental illnesses, the victims are often found to commit suicide or take several attempts to commit suicide in order to get rid of the miserable condition. Therefore, keeping in mind the above perspectives and the miserable conditions of these deprived people certain programs with planning are initiated to support suicide prevention acknowledging the Covid- 19 situations. The planning should be well structured, relevant and closely related to the above- mentioned issues and find out the best solution of this major problem.
Program Development
Before initiating certain programs related in support to suicide prevention let us fist have a glance what the Australian government had did to improve the health condition of these deprived peoples. The Aboriginal Torres Strait Islanders Suicide Prevention Evaluation Project (ATSISPEP) is an important initiation by the Australian government to identify what are the issues that are influencing the minority group of people to commit suicide and accordingly act on it.
Several suicide prevention programs aim and encourage at increasing community participation and local capacity that have been developed and implemented...
