Introduction
Dementia is characterised by an increasing loss of memory of an individual along with other impacts in cognitive ability like perception, actions and ability to think. As supported by Ashby-Mitchell, Burns, Shaw and Anstey (2017), there is no proper known cure for dementia and it only develops with time in an individual. Alzheimer’s disease, the most common reason for having dementia in the aging people is a neurodegenerative disease characterised by progressive dementia.
It might lead to complete loss of memory along with severe personality changes due to cognitive impairment. The individual affected would require a full time attendant with even basic functions such as eating, bathing and so on. The cause of this disease is due to presence of neurofibrillary tangles of Tau protein in their hyper-phosphorylated form in extracellular space and the anomalous accumulation of amyloid beta plaques around the neural cells.

Although the late onset of Alzheimer’s Disease(LOAD), affecting patients over 65 years of age, occurs with lesser severity of progression of the dementia than the extent of dementia in early onset, yet the prevalence of other secondary diseases in elderly group such as diabetes or cardiovascular diseases are well pronounced. According to Salichs, Encinar, Salichs, Castro-Gonzalez and Malfaz (2016), the conditions associated with the Alzheimer’s diseases patients may be classified as mild, moderate and severe.
In the mild cases, there are not much of other difficulties than the patient experiencing a short-term memory less like any recently gathered information or the names of persons or things. In the moderate cases, the patients tend to forget regarding their daily activities even if it is sometimes and they tend to remain confused while exhibiting any task, such as entering into the toilet and forgetting for what purpose they have actually come for and might remain confused (Isaacson et al., 2018). Here comes the responsibility to be undertaken by the caregivers by helping these patients with their most common daily activities and support.
