First of all, choose and state two principles of Catholic Social Thought (that we cover in the unit), define and explain them carefully in relation to your own experience (400-500 words). Then identify one or two specific communities that you belong to (or will belong to, in the future) and explain, with examples,
a. how the chosen principles may be relevant to those communities
b. how the chosen principles may be relevant to the skills and knowledge that you are acquiring in the degree program that you are studying
c. how the principles of dignity of the human person and the common good (if these principles are not included in the two that you have chosen) are relevant to the degree program that you are studying (600- 700 words).

Introduction
    Catholic social thought can be described as the catholic doctrines or teachings related to the matters of human dignity and common good in the society. The ideas, which are discussed through catholic social thoughts address social organisation, concern for social justice, issues related to oppression and wealth distribution and several other similar issues. Through this essay, I shall discuss the two principle of catholic social thought namely the promotion of peace and global solidarity. Furthermore, I shall discuss the relevance of these principles to the community I belong to. In addition to this, I shall also shed some light on the relevance of these principles to the degree and course I am undertaking. The principles of the dignity of human person and common good will also be discussed and their relevance to the degree program I am undertaking will be highlighted.
The Promotion of Peace
    The catholic social thought principle of the promotion of peace focuses on the promotion of peace as a positive and action-oriented concept. The principle of promotion of peace focuses on mutual respect and confidence between people with different beliefs and values and different nations as well (Brady, 2017). According to this principle it is believed that peace is a fruit of justice. This principle of catholic social thought further focuses on the fact that peace is more than the mere absence of war and peace comes where there is justice. From my view point, I feel that it is true that harmony among people living in the society can be experienced only when all the people living in the society experience justice and none of them suffers from injustice. Reflecting upon the experiences I have gathered so far, I believe that oppression must be eliminated to promote peace in the society.
    The principle of promotion of peace further highlights the notion that peace is a fruit of justice as well as love. Focusing on this notion and my experiences, I personally believe that to promote peace in the society it is essential that there is respect for human life in the society.
